The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital bids farewell to two board members and welcomes three new board members during their 2021 Annual Meeting.

Leaving the board after serving for six years were Bob Berry and Debbie Moore. They will be missed for their valued and unique contributions during a time that saw us plan, launch and close in on completing our largest capital fundraising campaign ever, Together, We Care.

Following a thorough recruitment process, we are delighted to welcome Dr. Tony Bier, Tracey Curtis and Taha Zahar to the board. Their diverse backgrounds will complement the perspectives and skill sets of our other 10 directors.

Dr. Tony Bier:
Tony is an Emergency Department physician who has been part of the GGH community for 20 years. His perspective as a clinician will be especially valuable to the board. Tony is excited with the opportunity to engage with the Foundation and to connect with the Guelph community where he and his wife chose to raise their family.

Tracey Curtis:
Tracey is a financial advisor with Richardson Wealth. She is committed community volunteer with organizations including the Rotary Club of Guelph, Bracelet of Hope and Hope House. Tracey believes a good Hospital is the pillar of a community and looks forward to helping GGH be the best it can be.

Taha Zafar:
Taha is the Financial Controller for Skyline Apartment REIT. He is a Board member of the Muslim Society of Guelph. Taha immigrated to Canada with his parents in 2005 and has been a proud Guelphite ever since. He looks forward to giving back to the community that has given him so much.

The volunteer Board of Directors is the governing body of the Foundation. Its duties include making planning and policy decisions, providing financial stewardship, being active in the fundraising process, approving and monitoring implementation of the strategic and annual plans and promoting community understanding of and support for the Hospital.
