Circle of Life – Helping transform care at Guelph General Hospital
On June 4, Circle of Life members were hosted by Linamar at the Frank Hasenfratz Centre for Excellence in Manufacturing to get the inside scoop on the hospital from Mark Walton (President and CEO – GGH), Alex Ferguson (Chief of Staff – GGH), and Julie Byczynski (CEO – FGGH) as they talked about current and upcoming priorities at Guelph General. Amongst the items discussed were the role of technology at the hospital, the newly introduced picture archiving and communication (PAC) system, and upcoming capital project plans. Those who attended told us that they found hearing directly from our hospital leadership on their current challenges and opportunities was very interesting and informative.
The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital’s Circle of Life program was established in 2013 to recognize and foster the continued support of philanthropic leaders in our community who give to the hospital. Every year, Circle of Life members give $500 or more and play a critical role in sustaining and driving patient care initiatives across the hospital. Members of this group are kept informed about the impact of their support through member-only events, a quarterly Insider newsletter featuring hospital updates, and access to donor tours of Guelph General. Those members giving at the $2,500+ level are considered part of the ‘Inner Circle,’ a giving collective whose donations are directed to support a special, hospital-identified priority project at year-end by member vote. Inner Circle members are invited to hear “pitches” from the hospital’s leadership at our year-end annual reception.
Members of the Circle of Life program are instrumental in helping maintain and transform healthcare at Guelph General Hospital. In recent years, members of this group have helped support the purchase of:
- 2 ultrasounds for Diagnostic Imaging
- 8 ventilators for the Bob Ireland Family Intensive Care Unit
- 1 giraffe incubator for the Pollard Family Special Care Nursery
- 15+ stretchers for various departments
- 1 vital signs monitor for Diagnostic Imaging
- 2 hematology analyzers for the Laboratory
This is only a snapshot of the amazing support members of this group have helped make possible at Guelph General!
