An expansion of Guelph General’s Speedvale Campus is on the horizon. Learn how you can help.
What it is?
Phase Two will add approximately 15,000 square feet of new clinical space and introduce three major service areas: an orthopedic clinic, endoscopy clinic and on-site medical device repurposing.
Who it is for?
Phase Two will bring expanded access to orthopedic or endoscopy care for the Guelph-Wellington community.
Why it matters?
By moving outpatient services to the Speedvale Campus, GGH can free up space at the Delhi Campus for acute needs, improve efficiency, expand access to care, and strengthen capacity for a growing community.
A healthier community starts here
Guelph-Wellington is growing and so is the demand for healthcare.
To meet the needs of our community today while preparing for tomorrow, Guelph General Hospital (GGH) plans to expand services at their Speedvale Campus through Phase Two, a transformational project that will increase access to specialized outpatient care, reduce wait times and free up critical hospital capacity at the Delhi Campus.
This next phase represents a significant community investment that will help ensure local residents can access the care they need, closer to home.
The Guelph-Wellington region is one of Ontario’s fastest-growing communities. At the same time:
- Our population is aging
- Demand for orthopedic and diagnostic services continues to rise
- Endoscopy procedures face significant backlogs
- GGH’s Delhi Campus is operating at or beyond capacity in many areas
- Provincial changes to colorectal cancer screening are expected to further increase demand for endoscopy services
Without additional outpatient capacity, wait times will continue to grow, pressure on acute care services will increase, and patients will face greater barriers to receiving timely care.
Why we need your support to act now
✅ Shorter wait times
✅ Faster access to diagnosis and treatment
✅ More services available locally
✅ Improved continuity of care
✅ A better overall healthcare experience
For example, many endoscopy referrals currently leave the Wellington region for services elsewhere. By expanding local capacity, more residents will be able to receive care close to home and remain connected to their healthcare team.
Building on proven success
Guelph General’s Speedvale Campus is already demonstrating what’s possible.
As an extension of Guelph General Hospital, the Diagnostic Imaging Centre at the Speedvale Campus offers hospital-quality diagnostic imaging, diagnosis, and a range of outpatient treatments without the stress of a hospital atmosphere and is fully operated and staffed by GGH medical professionals.
In just the first two months of operations:
- More than 800 MRI exams were completed.
- Patients received diagnoses sooner.
- Treatment plans began more quickly.
- Families gained answers and peace of mind.
Phase Two can build on this success by bringing additional high-demand services to GGH’s Speedvale Campus.
Guelph General Hospital is growing to meet the needs of our changing community while remaining committed to compassionate, patient‑centred care.
As planning continues for a new hospital, these investments ensure patients, families, and caregivers receive safe, high‑quality care today while preparing for the future of healthcare in Guelph. Join us as we build the bridge to the future at Guelph General Hospital.
A smart investment in community healthcare
The fully realized GGH Speedvale Campus would provide approximately 25,000 square feet of additional clinical space at a fraction of the cost and timeline associated with traditional hospital expansion.
Benefits include:
- Faster implementation than major hospital construction
- Stronger cost control
- Greater patient impact per dollar invested
- Immediate system-wide benefits
- Expanded access for thousands of patients each year
Most importantly, it allows GGH to respond to community needs now.
Be part of the future of healthcare in Guelph-Wellington
Phase Two is the next critical step in expanding access, reducing wait times and ensuring Guelph General Hospital can continue meeting the needs of a growing community.
Together, we can create a healthier future for everyone.
Support Phase Two today. Every gift brings us closer to a stronger, more accessible healthcare system for Guelph-Wellington.
