27th Annual Black Tie Bingo in support of Guelph General Hospital receives $100,000 match donation from Hutton Forest Products

Coming up on Saturday, March 4 at The Grand Guelph, Black Tie Bingo is The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital’s premier fundraising gala in support of Guelph General Hospital.

Now in its 27th year, Black Tie Bingo is returning to an in-person event for the first time since the pandemic began. Co-presenting sponsors Co-operators and Meridian Credit Union lead the charge for a number of business that have stepped up to sponsor the event.

James Hutton of Hutton Forest Products is one of many local businesses passionate about supporting the Foundation’s mission to transform healthcare through giving and has committed to matching, dollar for dollar, all donations leading up to and at the event up to $100,000.

“I have developed a deep appreciation for the importance of having a well-supported Hospital to serve our community,” stated Hutton. “I’m highly motivated to support the Hospital personally and through my business Hutton Forest Products, but I’m really hoping to inspire others in our community to offer their support by matching their donation, dollar for dollar. Together, I believe we can raise over $200,000 for our hospital, at a time when they need it the most.”

The Foundation is aiming to raise a record-breaking amount of money at Black Tie Bingo to support urgently needed operating room equipment needs. This equipment will help many patients across our community awaiting surgical care. To date, ticket sales and sponsorships have raised over $200,000. However, The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital relies on donations made during the event itself and proceeds from silent and live auctions to reach its goal.

Julie Byczynski, the Foundation’s CEO expressed, “This gala raises critical funds for patient care equipment every year, and this year, we are supporting our operating room and surgical needs. We are incredibly thankful to James and all our generous sponsors, table hosts and ticket buyers,” She continued, “. The ‘Hutton Match’ is important in many ways, and especially since it empowers more people in our community to contribute – recognizing that gala fundraisers are not traditionally accessible to everyone. Every contribution will be matched and celebrated, of any amount‘
