27th Annual Black Tie Bingo in support of Guelph General Hospital nearly sold out

The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital’s 27th annual Black Tie Bingo, presented by Co-operators and Meridian Credit Union returns to an in-person gala on Saturday, March 4, 2023, following two years of virtual attendance.

Black Tie Bingo is a fundraising gala in support of Guelph General Hospital. A total of 400 tickets are available for sale and they are already over 80% sold. Community members who are interested in supporting the Hospital are welcome to purchase tickets online at www.BlackTieBingo.com.

Co-chaired by Lynda Murray, past Foundation Board Chair, and Juliette Zhang, long-standing event volunteer, the 27th annual fundraising gala in support of Guelph General Hospital has been re-envisioned with the help of their creative partner The Letter M Marketing.

“Community support of Guelph General is essential to ensure the highest standard of healthcare is available close to home for everyone,” remarked Murray. “Black Tie Bingo will continue to offer guests what they have always loved most about this event – an elegant gala and dinner experience including multiple rounds of Bingo for prizes! What’s changed is the heightened awareness of the fundraising aspect of the event.”

Zhang added, “Fundraising for the Hospital is Black Tie Bingo’s ultimate goal and this year that goal is to exceed $300,000 in net proceeds, however, there really is no limit, the more we raise, the more support we can offer our Hospital.”

Black Tie Bingo is aiming to raise a record-breaking amount of money to support urgently needed operating room equipment needs. This equipment will help many patients across our community awaiting surgical care. To date, ticket sales and sponsorships have raised over $200,000. However, The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital relies on donations made during the event itself and proceeds from silent and live auctions to reach its goal.

At the event, The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital will be announcing the inaugural recipients of their newly established Inspirational Philanthropist Award. The annual award was established to recognize the outstanding community members who have furthered the Foundation’s mission, vision and values and who has demonstrated an abiding commitment to Guelph General Hospital as well as the wider community through their exceptional contributions through business, volunteerism and/or philanthropy.

The Foundation’s CEO, Julie Byczynski explained, “We are thrilled to introduce this new award at our longest standing fundraiser, together with our 400 guests and volunteers. Our Hospital and our community has benefited tremendously by the generosity of our inaugural recipient. I’d even go as far as saying that it’s possible every one of us has been touched in some way by their impact.”
