Congratulations to our September 50/50 Hospital Lottery Winner!
On Friday, September 30th, we called our September 50/50 Hospital Lottery winner of $35,000, Joanne Lattone. Foundation staffer, Lauren Fargo was lucky enough to make this wonderful call. As soon as Lauren introduced herself over the phone, Joanne instantly replied, “Oh My God!”
After meeting Joanne, we asked her if she knew why we were calling her on September 30th. Joanne stated, “I knew the draw was that day, but I didn’t clue in until you actually said I had won. It still doesn’t feel real!”
Joanne shared with us that she and her family have a trip booked for November to the Dominican Republic, so this prize could not have come at a better time.
Joanne has been playing the lottery for four months now. She plays a few different lotteries that support her community but contributes $20 to the 50/50 Hospital Lottery each month.
In September, she tried a little different strategy. Before she finalized her regular $20 ticket purchase, Joanne called her daughter and asked if she wanted to also put $20 towards the purchase so they could get the 200 ticket bundle for $40. Her daughter agreed to this plan and it paid off! Joanne and her daughter plan to split the winnings 50/50. Other than Joanne’s family trip in November, she isn’t sure what else she might want to spend the money on, but she says that Christmas might be a little bit sweeter this year. Her daughter; however, says that she plans to save her winnings.
“We will keep playing,” Joanne said. “Any way to support our community and have fun too!”
