Congratulations to Christine Swyers, May’s Grand Prize winner who won $30,015!

“It was exciting, unbelievable, wonderful. I didn’t believe it at first,” claims Christine Swyers, our May winner of $30,015 in the 50/50 Hospital Lottery for Guelph General Hospital. Foundation staffer Montana Woolford-Browne made the call delivering the happy news and relays, “Christine kept asking ‘Is this real?’ and I was so happy to reassure her that it really was!”

Christine has been actively saving to replace her aging car. It has become so unreliable that she doesn’t want to take it very far from home. “My first thought was now I can replace that car.” One of her three grown sons plans to help her shop for the new car soon.

When asked what she might do with the remainder of her winnings, Christine shared, “I will set it aside for a rainy day. I will also spoil my nine grandchildren.” How fun.

Christine had been inspired to play in April’s lottery after seeing a Facebook ad, clicking through and then reading several past winners stories. In April she bought the $20 bundle and then in May increased to the $40 bundle. With an investment of $60 she got a return of $29,955 – not bad at all.

“I will continue to play. I sent the link to my sons and my sister too. I have often supported 50/50 fundraisers. It seems like such a great way to raise money for good causes.” Christine will have a great story to share at her next shift in packaging and displays at Procter & Gamble in Brantford.

Thank you for playing, Christine and congratulations!
