Donors celebrated for their generous giving to Guelph General Hospital

The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital held its annual celebration of local philanthropists who enable the purchase of essential patient care equipment.

Donors were honoured with a ribbon cutting at the updated Donor Wall, provided a chance to view recently-purchased patient care equipment funded through their donations, and given an update on changes to local health care delivered by Marianne Walker, President and CEO of Guelph General Hospital.

“We celebrated donors who joined the wall for the first time by reaching $5,000 in lifetime giving to date, as well as faithful donors whose giving resulted in them rising a level” said Suzanne Bone, Foundation CEO. “These donors allow us to achieve our mission of ‘saving lives and improving health, together with our community’.”

The Donor Wall is prominently displayed in the main lobby of the Hospital and highlights the names of 958 donors across seven giving categories. The philanthropy represented by this Donor Wall is well over $50,000,000, a tremendous sum that has contributed to excellence in local healthcare.

Paul Osborne, the Foundation’s Board Chair, spoke to the importance of community support of the Hospital, reminding donors that they fund every piece of equipment used in the direct care of patients at Guelph General Hospital. “It is why your philanthropy is so important… A strong community makes a hospital greater and a great hospital makes a community stronger,” said Osborne.
