Tour de Guelph 2019 Exceeds $125,000 Fundraising Goal through continued partnership between The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital and the Rotary Clubs of Guelph South and Guelph Trillium

Sunday, June 23rd was a spectacular day! It saw the coming together of more than 750 riders (and the hundreds who sponsored them), over 100 volunteers, and many sponsor partners – all contributing to the success of the 6th Annual Tour de Guelph presented by Scotiabank. With $125,000 (net) raised, it’s the most successful yet.

“We’re so proud of this event and what our volunteer organizing committee has been able to accomplish for our community over the past six years” said Norm Litchfield, Tour de Guelph Co-Chair, Rotary Club of Guelph Trillium. “Tour de Guelph has enabled our club to support many local and essential programs in our community, and through Tour de Guelph, Rotary is able to facilitate raising significant funds for Guelph General.”

In its six years, Tour de Guelph has raised over $450,000. For the Hospital, it has funded or helped fund IV pumps, an ultrasound machine, two non-invasive respiratory ventilators, and diagnostic equipment like our new CT scanner. This year, the Hospital’s share of the proceeds will go towards purchasing a sophisticated centralized cardiac monitoring system to help monitor heart activity in our most ill patients.

A portion of the proceeds from Tour de Guelph are also distributed to dozens of community organizations and programs through the Rotary Clubs of Guelph South and Guelph Trillium. “Tour de Guelph’s impact is wide,” commented Brian Cowan, Tour de Guelph Co-Chair, Rotary Club of Guelph South. “This year, many local groups aimed at youth development, family support, and community building will continue to be supported through Rotary’s participation in this incredible community event.”

“We’re grateful for our partnership with the Rotary Clubs of Guelph South and Guelph Trillium. We simply wouldn’t have the people-power to do it without them,” said Suzanne Bone, CEO, The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital. “The countless volunteer hours by Rotarians, as well as Foundation and Hospital volunteers, makes fundraising events like Tour de Guelph possible for us.”

The 7th Annual Tour de Guelph will take place on the fourth Sunday of June, 2020.
