Brad Milton – OR Attendant

Brad Milton’s goal is to show up for every shift with his “A-game.”

The OR is a busy department and Brad works together with eight other attendants that he describes as “a close and tight-knit team.”

Together they help ensure that the patient flow through the OR is as smooth and seamless as can be, helping ensure planned surgeries stick to their schedule and that emergency situations can also be handled efficiently.

There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes in the OR and Brad and the team are responsible for many important tasks. They spend their shifts running from one task to the next so that every supply and piece of equipment that is needed for the day’s surgeries are where they need to be when they are needed. “You have to say yes to everything that is asked of you and you have to always be available” Brad explains.

And while the role may seem task-oriented, Brad knows that every task is closely tied to patient care. He says “patients’ needs always come first.” He tries to make sure patients are well looked after and when he notices that someone is struggling emotionally, he tries his best to provide comfort.

Brad is well liked throughout the department for his commitment and for his light and friendly demeanor. “Most days are busy and it can be highly stressful too, so I try to keep my mood light and do my best to keep others around me happy” said Brad.

Brad demonstrates leadership in patient care excellence through his self-driven initiative to show up every shift, ready to be his best, do his best, and to be there for patients in the best way he can.
