COVID-19 PPE Critical Response

Thank you for thinking of Guelph General Hospital and for considering creative ways to help us.

Please note that things are changing on a daily basis. Make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

There is a global shortage of personal protective equipment (PPE) used by frontline workers. Here at Guelph General Hospital, our Materials Management team continues to work with supply companies for all the PPE we require and is drawing on these relationships to navigate supply chain challenges and expedite deliveries. This is also being looked at federally and provincially.

Outside of these normal supply chains, here is how you can help:

FACE MASKS

  1. N95 masks are a specific need at the hospital. There are many different types of N95 masks and we can only accept NIOSH approved medical/healthcare grade masks. Our preferred models are 3M 1870/1870+/1860/1860S/8210. Unfortunately, N95 masks manufactured for industrial (non-medical) uses cannot be accepted.
  2. Full Face Respirators – 3M 6700, 3M 6800, 3M 6900
  3. Half Face Respirators – 3M 6100, 3M 6200, 3M 6300

PPE must meet the following preferred criteria to be donated:

  • PPE must be in unopened boxes or packaging.
  • The source or manufacturer must be known since we have received a high volume of counterfeit PPE products. In order to combat this, we are currently only accepting items that have been purchased in North America.

All donated PPE will go through a quality assurance check before being used.

ADDITIONAL CURRENT NEEDS

  • Disposable gowns

FGGH Sewing Mask Challenge

At this point in time, we do not require any sewn items.

FOOD

Please note at this time we are not accepting food donations. We are extremely grateful for companies and individuals who are offering food to our frontline staff.
But, we have to ensure we are doing all we can to protect both our staff and our patients.
We don’t want our staff gathering in groups to eat, just as we don’t advise members of the public to do that.
Our staff can certainly accept gift cards for restaurants or food delivery services. Send them digitally to [email protected] or mail The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital, 115 Delhi St, Guelph ON N1E 4J4 and we’ll ensure they get delivered.
