Stan & Brenda Daniecki walk away with $36,882 from February’s 50/50
The winning ticket number, H-4750529, for the February draw was pulled at 11AM on Friday, February 26th for a prize of $36,882.00.
Our excited winner, Stan Daniecki, shared how it was a strange turn of events that led to him buy a ticket. His wife Brenda had bought in December and January and had talked with him about it, but he only made the split second decision when he noticed a ‘last chance to buy’ ad on Guelph Today. He happened to be awake at midnight that night waiting to book a slot for his gym, as only ten people can be in at a time. He thought to himself, “Why not? It supports the hospital.” He got in just under the wire!
On the day of the draw Stan was at work as an air craft maintenance engineer at Air Canada when he got the email from the Foundation asking every purchaser to check their numbers. When he did, his heart began to race and he was in disbelief. He had to ask a co-worker to double check. Stan also called his wife Brenda saying he thought he won. She checked again and exclaimed, “I think you did, buddy!”
Stan and Brenda haven’t officially celebrated this windfall yet. Stan said, “Don’t spend anything until the cheque is in hand!” Now that it is, a celebratory dinner of some favourite take-out is planned.
The couple also plan to complete some home renovations and support their son’s wedding coming up in August. The money will also support Stan’s training as he works to earn his pilot’s license.

50/50 Hospital Lottery proceeds from July and August helped fund 33 new endoscopes and proceeds from September through December funded lighting for our operating rooms. Proceeds from January and February will help fund a mini C-arm for our operating rooms to be used for real time imaging fluoroscopy during surgery.
