Sleeman Breweries Makes Generous Gift to Support Guelph General Hospital on behalf of its employees
Today Guelph General Hospital is celebrating a generous gift of $100,000 from Sleeman Breweries Ltd. in support of the Together, We Care campaign.
“Announcing such a wonderfully generous gift is a great way to kick off the New Year,” commented The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital’s CEO Suzanne Bone. “Sleeman Breweries is a long-time supporter of our Hospital and we are most grateful to them for making a significant contribution once again.”
The gift from Sleeman Breweries will support the $34 million Together, We Care campaign, the Foundation’s most urgent community fundraising project ever. The goal of the campaign is to fund the expansion of both the Emergency Department and Special Care Nursery as well as investing in new patient care equipment and technology.
“Guelph General Hospital plays a vital role in our community and it is our pleasure to come forward to assist our dedicated health care professionals in continuing to provide excellent care with vital new equipment needed” said John Sleeman, Founder and Chairman of Sleeman Breweries Ltd. “We believe it is important to ensure the residents of Guelph and surrounding area have access to the best quality service using life-saving equipment. We make this donation in honour of our employees in appreciation for their hard work and dedication. We all take great pride in being part of the Guelph community and recognize the role we can all play in keeping our residents safe and healthy.”
“We would also like to extend a huge thank you to staff, physicians and volunteers at the Guelph General Hospital for their tireless work during the Pandemic” said Martin Durocher, VP of Human Resources, Sleeman Breweries Ltd. “This past year has shown us how important it is to maintain our hospitals with equipment that helps us be prepared for unprecedented challenges. We are very pleased to support our local hospital to ensure the best medical treatment for our families, friends, colleagues and greater community. This is our chance to give back to the excellent care the Guelph General Hospital provides.”
“Especially with the second wave of the pandemic well underway and concerns surrounding increased spread and rising admissions, we are so very grateful to corporate partners like Sleeman Breweries” said hospital President and CEO, Marianne Walker. “Gifts like this enable us to purchase the equipment and technology that helps us save lives and improve health. We couldn’t do it without our community’s support and we are so appreciative to Sleeman Breweries for helping us provide the highest quality care and experience to our patients.”
In addition to Sleeman Breweries’ generous campaign gift, they are also sponsoring January’s 50/50 Hospital Lottery for Guelph General Hospital by providing two $500 early bird prizes. “We wanted to go the extra mile to celebrate our contribution to the Hospital and encourage others in our community to support the Hospital as well,” said Sue Keuhl, HR and Community Relations Associate at Sleeman Breweries Ltd.
