Fore Our Hospital raises $28,000 towards the new CT Scanner
Monday, June 4th dawned overcast and drizzly with a bitter wind but that didn’t discourage the 114 golfers who played in Fore Our Hospital. In fact, the golf tournament raised an amazing $28,000! You can see them in action in our FOH 2018 Photo Gallery.
The funds raised will go towards the new CT Scanner that the Hospital needs to purchase. The current CT scanner is now 13 years old. It breaks down more regularly and replacement parts are becoming harder to source.
Dr. Samir Patel, Chief of Diagnostic Imaging attended Fore Our Hospital as a golfer and also had a chance to address the group over dinner.
Dr. Patel stated, “It is so heartwarming to see all of these people come out for Fore Our Hospital to help us buy a new CT Scanner. We don’t want any more patients to have to reschedule their scans because ours has broken again. It is stressful having these tests done and we understand that. We want to get our patients through and on to forming their treatment plans.” Dr. Patel also spoke of the many enhancements a new CT scanner will bring including better image quality and reduced radiation.
The experience for our golfers was made even more seamless and special this year with the help of five volunteers from Family & Children’s Services of Guelph and Wellington County. Helping out the Foundation was a team building exercise for these child protection social workers and they were great sports despite the cold and the periodic drizzle.
“The new CT Scanner is closer to becoming a reality with every donation made and the sponsors and golfers of Fore Our Hospital really stepped up this year. We are so grateful for the ongoing support from our community,” enthused Suzanne Bone, CEO of the Foundation.
