Julie Byczynski
CEO
Julie Byczynski brings over two decades of leadership in fundraising to her role as CEO of The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital. Her career spans diverse sectors—including social services, the performing arts, education, and healthcare—united by a consistent focus on building inclusive communities and expanding access to essential services.
A proud graduate of the University of Guelph, Julie holds both a BA and MA and began her career locally before gaining international experience in Ottawa, the United Kingdom, and the United States. She has held senior fundraising roles with the National Arts Centre Foundation, the Royal Shakespeare Company, and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, leading major gift initiatives and capital campaigns.
Julie returned to Guelph in 2017, reconnecting with her roots and strengthening her ties to the community. She joined the University of Guelph’s Alumni Affairs and Development team, serving as Director of Advancement at the Ontario Veterinary College. Her leadership continues to be shaped by a belief in the power of philanthropy to strengthen communities.
Reflecting on her work, Julie shares, “Guelph is home to me, and it is a privilege to work alongside the dedicated healthcare team, physicians, leaders, generous donors and volunteers to advance one of the most critical institutions in our growing city.”
Julie is an active member of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy and has shared her expertise as a speaker at Canadian and U.S. conferences. She is honoured to lead a mission-driven team dedicated to transforming healthcare through giving at Guelph General Hospital.
