Donor Spotlight: Rebecca and Breathe Medical Spa
Rebecca Moore is a small business owner in Guelph. Out of gratitude for the supportive community that she attributes to the success she has had in growing her business, Breathe Medical Spa, Rebecca began seeking out ways to give a little back.
Rebecca shares that it wasn’t an easy road. She started her career in Milton in the spa industry. While a young mother of two pre-teens, Rebecca closed the clinic after going through a significant life change.
At the time she chose to take a step back and focus on her personal wellbeing, and that of her children. Still having a passion for skincare, she started taking clients in her home. She recalls, “those years were very difficult for me, I was working my way back up from rock bottom.”
After a couple of years, Rebecca built a significant client base and decided to open another clinic in the south end of Guelph. The name Breathe Medical Spa is symbolic of that time in her life where she needed to take time to just breathe, and the importance of that for everyone.
Breathe Medical Spa, in it’s 8th year of operation, offers cosmetic medical treatments. Their goal is to transform client’s skin health and quality, helping them be the best they can be at any age.
“I wouldn’t have the life I have without this community. I feel it’s my responsibility to give back,” says Rebecca.
When it came to decide how to give back, many organizations came to mind, including Guelph General Hospital through Black Tie Bingo. “I heard about Black Tie Bingo from some of my clients. I think it is so important to give back and supporting healthcare in this community is especially meaningful to me as my father was a physician, who’s hospital privileges were at Guelph General.”
With an emphasis on women’s health at the 2024 Black Tie Bingo, Rebecca felt there was good alignment for Breathe Medical Spa and the philanthropic goals of the business. Rebecca attended the fundraising gala and made a $5,000 corporate donation during the live fundraising that took place at the event.
Through Black Tie Bingo, Rebecca has learned more about the importance of the role the community plays in supporting their local hospital. “I learned, through this gala, the need to donate to your local hospital for patient care equipment,” she says. “This gala isn’t just about getting dressed up, it’s about helping others as well.”
Breathe Medical Spa is already making plans to support next year’s Black Tie Bingo, taking place on Saturday, April 5, 2025. They are among the first to secure a corporate table and they are exploring additional ways to contribute over and above their attendance. Community-minded businesses like Breathe Medical Spa have a significant impact at Guelph General Hospital through their donations. They ensure Guelph General can purchase essential patient care equipment to deliver the best possible patient care, locally.
